For 2025, Focus is giving the popular E-MTB all-rounder Thron² a major update. As before, the bike will be available in two versions. Both bikes are based on the same frame, but are designed for different purposes. The Thron² is intended as a pure touring e-MTB for long rides on gravel paths and flowing trails. The Thron² EQP, on the other hand, is fully equipped with mudguards, lights, pannier rack and kickstand ex works. This makes the bike fit for everyday use to tours with luggage - even on bad roads.
Both Thron² models from Focus share the same aluminium frame. Despite the entry-level prices well below 5000 euros, Focus treats itself to polished weld seams for a high-quality carbon look. The motor is the new Bosch Performance Line CX with 600 or 800 watt hours. If you need even more range, you can opt for the Power More range extender with 250 additional watt hours.
When it comes to the geometry and dimensions of the frame, Focus prioritises comfort as much as possible. A rather slack seat angle in combination with a high front should take the strain off your hands. Long chainstays ensure good-natured handling, even on steep climbs. The suspension of the Thron² is also designed specifically for comfort. As already the new E-All-Mountain Focus Jam² performs excellently in this discipline (here in the test)you can also look forward to the Thron².
The main difference between the two models lies in the equipment. The Focus Thron² is designed as a purist touring e-MTB and does not have any additional add-on parts such as lights, mudguards or pannier racks. However, if you want to retrofit something, you can also purchase parts specially adapted for the bike from specialist dealers. A pre-routed light cable makes it easy to retrofit a headlight.
The Focus Thron² EQP, on the other hand, is equipped with additional features for everyday use and multi-day tours. It has a pannier rack with a load capacity of up to 15 kilograms. A front headlight with high beam function is also permanently installed. Mudguards are designed to keep Thron² riders dry from below in the rain. Smart: The side stand of the Thron² is explicitly designed for off-road use and should not rattle even on bumps and potholes. Thron² and Thron² EQP are already prepared ex works for the installation of Apple Air Tag or Bosch's Connect module as anti-theft protection.
Focus Thron² and Thron² EQP will be available immediately in five equipment variants. The Thron² without full equipment costs from 4699 euros, the EQP is slightly more expensive at 4899 euros. The top model Thron² 6.9 ABS for 6999 euros is only available without the everyday parts.
