Focus THRON² 6.8

The THRON² 6.8 model from 2024 by Focus is a versatile e-mountain bike which, at a price of 5,799 EUR, is positioned in the upper mid-range. The frame is made from 7005 hydroformed aluminium and, thanks to its F.O.L.D. kinematics, offers 130 mm of suspension travel. The frame is also fitted with a USB-C port and supports 180 mm post-mount brake calipers. The maximum permissible weight is 150 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 26 kg.

The braking system utilises SRAM DB8 four-piston hydraulic disc brakes, fitted with 203 mm rotors at both the front and rear. The drivetrain is provided by the Shimano Deore XT M8100 12-speed system, which ensures precise and reliable gear changes. The Rock Shox 35 Gold RL fork, with 130 mm of travel, and the Rock Shox Deluxe Select rear shock, also with 130 mm of travel, provide well-balanced suspension for challenging trails.

The bike is fitted with MTB pedals and features a Samox EC40 ISIS crankset. The cassette is a Shimano Deore CS-M6100, also in the 12-speed version. The drivetrain is supported by the Shimano CN-LG50 chain. The aluminium handlebars are 800 mm wide and have a rise of 30 mm and a backsweep of 9°. The stem is an integrated FOCUS C.I.S. model with a length of 50 mm.

The wheelsets consist of RODI TRYP30 rims and are fitted with Maxxis Minion DHF tyres, with a 2.6 Dual EXO TR, 66-622 tyre fitted at the front and an EXO, 63-622 tyre at the rear. The front hub is a 15x100 mm thru-axle, whilst the rear hub is a Novatec D462SB with a 12x148 mm axle.

The Proxim X400 saddle is mounted on a Post Moderne PM-214 dropper post, which has a diameter of 34.9 mm. The bike’s geometry, with a reach of 500 mm and a stack of 655 mm, offers a comfortable riding position. The head tube angle is 66 degrees, whilst the seat tube angle is 75 degrees. The chainstay length measures 455 mm, and the wheelbase totals 1281 mm, ensuring stable handling. With a standover height of 807 mm and a bottom bracket drop of 30 mm, the THRON² 6.8 is a well-balanced e-mountain bike that is suitable for both ambitious recreational cyclists and discerning trail riders.
