Cannondale 29 M Scalpel HM Ultimate

Cannondale’s 2021 “29 M Scalpel HM Ultimate” is a state-of-the-art mountain bike that stands out for its advanced technology and top-of-the-range components. The price for this model is 12,499 EUR.

The bike’s frame is made from BallisTec Hi-Mod Carbon and offers 100mm of suspension travel. It is proportionately tailored to the various frame sizes and features a FlexPivot seatstay design. Further features of the frame include the PF30-83 bottom bracket shell, a tapered head tube, a Speed Release 12mm thru-axle, as well as Ai Offset and Stash compatibility.

For the brakes, Cannondale has opted for the SRAM Level Ultimate hydraulic disc brake system with 160mm Centreline X rotors at the front and rear. The brake levers are also from SRAM Level Ultimate and deliver precise and reliable braking performance.

The gear system is controlled by the wireless SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS system, which offers 12 speeds. The shift lever is also a SRAM Eagle AXS 12-speed, enabling smooth and rapid gear changes.

The fork is a Lefty Ocho Carbon with 100mm of travel, a Chamber Damper with a remote control for the lockout function and an OppO suspension system. The rear shock is a Fox Float DPS Factory EVOL, also with 100mm of travel, a remote control for the lockout function and adjustable rebound.

The bottom bracket is an SRAM DUB PF30 MTB83, whilst the crankset is an SRAM XX1 Eagle DUB with a 34T chainring and Ai Offset. The cassette is an SRAM XG-1299, XX1 Eagle in Copper, with a 10–52 tooth range for the 12-speed drivetrain.

The handlebars are ENVE M5 Carbon, 760mm wide, with a 5mm rise and a 9° sweep. The grips are ESI Chunky Silicone with a diameter of 32mm. The stem is a Cannondale 1 made from 7075 aluminium with a 7° angle and a diameter of 31.8mm.

The headset is integrated and features sealed angular contact ball bearings. The rims are ENVE M525 carbon with 24 spoke holes and are tubeless-ready. The front tyres are Schwalbe Racing Ray EVO in size 29 x 2.25", SnakeSkin, Addix Speedgrip, tubeless-ready, whilst the rear tyres are Schwalbe Racing Ralph EVO in the same size and also tubeless-ready.

The front hub is a Lefty 60 and the rear hub is a custom DT Swiss hub with a 36t Star Ratchet System and a 12x148mm thru-axle. The spokes are DT Swiss Aerolite, straight-pull.

The saddle is a PROLOGO Dimension NDR CPC Tirox, whilst the seatpost is made from ENVE carbon and measures 31.6 x 400mm with an offset of 0mm.
