The Porsche in the test field: light, stiff, hard and directly tuned 100 millimetres of travel and a steep steering angle - there's no question that the brand new women's Scalpel is designed for racing.

And that's exactly how the test ride starts. The bike wants to go uphill fast. As a rider, you almost feel rushed to pedal faster so that the Scalpel doesn't get bored. It is lively and manoeuvrable on the flat, slightly rooted trail. Only on technical descents do you miss the hydraulic seatpost (retrofittable) and a little more forgiving suspension millimetres. The handling with the Lefty fork takes some getting used to. The handlebar angle to the left is limited due to the design, which can get tight in hairpin bends to the left. The right Allen key is always required to remove the front wheel (for loading in the boot).

GItta Beimfohr, bike editor: A light, manoeuvrable and powerful race bike for sporty female riders who are so confident downhill that they can do without lowering the seat post (no quick release).
