Jackson Goldstone is regarded as a great downhill talent. The 19-year-old has already been crowned Junior World Champion and has won the overall MTB Downhill Youth World Cup twice. Now the Canadian was back in spectacular style with his Santa Cruz 5010 on the trail...
In his main job, the syndicate driver hunts on the Santa Cruz V10 Best times, at home he is simply looking for a good time and maximum riding enjoyment on his trail bike. This winter, Jackson was filmed in British Columbia before the region in western Canada was hit by snowfall. The Canadian talent collected airtime on his home trails - and how! The video seems almost idyllic with the calm music in the background. But that's deceptive: action-packed jumps are not long in coming... Mum would certainly have said: "He'll know what he's doing." And yes, he does!
Director Scott Secco accompanied him on his wild ride. He captured how Jackson Goldstone performs drops on his home trails in Canada, pulls off jumps and never gives up before an obstacle.
One user comments on the video with the words: "He goes round corners faster than I've ever seen him. If he keeps going like this, he'll easily be world champion!" Jackson Goldstone has already achieved this in the juniors, but now he is competing in the men's elite. 2023 marked his first professional season.

The new clip from Goldstone/Secco is somewhat reminiscent of the first 5010 video from Santa Cruz, back then with MTB legend Steve PeatThe only difference was that it was a bit different and had a different background - but see for yourself...
In the intro to the video, Peat said at the time: "Mountain bikes protect me from the dark things, and what life sometimes throws at you. For 25 years I have lived for race weekends. Exploring new trails, meeting new people and trying to beat the best times on the toughest courses. World Cup Downhill is the hardest thing there is. But there's so much more to it than just the race and the clock. And the older I get, the more I think about it."
One comes, the other goes. At the age of 19, Jackson Goldstone is at the start of his professional MTB career, Steve Peat announced his retirement from the professional game in 2015. MTB action and breathtaking stunts are something they can both do!
And although there is a 30-year age difference between them, both riders have a shared passion: mountain biking. They were and are both very successful in the downhill category in particular: Goldstone is the 2021 Junior Downhill World Champion and was invited to the Red Bull Hardline at the end of the same year. At his first start, he became the youngest rider ever to win in the history of the Hardline. In 2023, his first professional year, he celebrated two World Cup victories and finished the year in second place overall.
Steve Peat, on the other hand, achieved in 2009 what many still believe Goldstone is capable of: The title at the MTB Downhill World Championships. Peat was also British Champion seven times, won the European Championship twice and celebrated several individual and overall World Cup downhill victories.
Jackson Goldstone still has all that ahead of him. And maybe in a few years there will be another video in which the young Canadian reflects on his career and more MTB stories are written...
