Biking without a helmet is dangerous. But which helmet is safe enough? Does it have to be a top model costing over 200 euros to protect my head properly? It doesn't have to! That's what our Detailed crash test of 20 helmets for trail bikers shown. Another finding from the test with our own test stand: the widespread MIPS system works and brings measurable benefits. With the new Path, Giant wants to offer MTB beginners in particular a safe, affordable helmet.
The respected US research institution Virginia Tech certifies that the Path MIPS offers very good protection. The yellow MIPS insert protects the head from dangerous rotational forces in the event of a fall. The 17 ventilation openings and antibacterial padding material are designed to ensure long-lasting comfort. To ensure the helmet fits perfectly, the adjustment wheel can be operated with one hand.
The Giant helmet also has clever details. A light docking station for Giant Alumbra lights is hidden under the small plastic cover at the back of the head. The Path is said to cost just 59,90 Euro. Rotation protection comes as standard. The Relay racing bike version of the helmet comes without a visor and costs 49,90 Euro. The Path should weigh 330 grammes and the Relay road bike helmet 305 grams, both in size S/M.
