The YT Jeffsy 29 Core 2 shows its strengths especially at high speeds downhill. Despite the update break since 2020, the geometry still fits very well in the all-mountain class.

It's been three years since YT last worked on the aluminium frame of the Jeffsy. It is therefore hardly surprising that the current Core 2 model also suffers from a well-known problem: From shoe size 41 upwards, the space between the heel and the overhanging seat stays becomes tight, which means unsightly scuff marks on the frame.
on the frame.

Uphill upright-relaxed - but cosy

In the slack flip-chip setting, the YT pedals less efficiently than other bikes in the comparison. The bobbing of the rear suspension is present, but remains acceptable and can be completely eliminated via the platform lever. With a high cockpit, the riding position is upright and relaxed. The Jeffsy is also a comfortable climber due to its considerable weight.

The YT Jeffsy Core 2 steers extremely intuitively downhill. Bikers are centred and well integrated in the frame. A short seat tube and low standover height also provide safety in narrow and steep passages - also interesting for smaller riders.

Downhill uncomplicated - fine chassis

Except for very flat trails, the Jeffsy can score points in any terrain. On flat terrain, the bike is rather sluggish due to its weight and active suspension. However, the riding fun increases with speed. Even at high speeds, the handling remains uncomplicated despite the short reach and steeper steering angle and offers full control at all times.

The suspension is sensitive and plush on the trail. The rear suspension never gives you the feeling of too little travel and has sufficient reserves even on fast, hard hits. This is where it pays off that YT relies on high-quality suspension elements despite the bargain price. For comparison: The top model, which is around 1.7 kilos lighter YT Jeffsy Core 4 costs just under 2200 euros more. Heavy riders benefit from the high frame rigidity and the large brake discs.

Test YT Jeffsy 29 Core 2: Conclusion of the BIKE editorial team

The YT shows its strengths particularly at high speeds downhill. The suspension reserves are high and the handling is intuitive. However, touring is only possible at a leisurely pace. - Jan Timmermann, BIKE tester
