The new BH iLynx+ is not a classic light e-MTB with a small motor and battery. This is because BH has installed the new Shimano EP801 drive with 85 Newton metres and 600 watts. The bike also has a 540 watt-hour battery, which can be increased to 720 watt-hours using a range extender. This concept is also used by Stork with her E.drenalin.2 GTS 500 E. Despite all this, the iLynx+ weighs in at 19.8 kilograms, which is thanks to its lightweight carbon frame.
The new BH iLynx+ features the new Shimano EP801 motor. Thanks to new technology, the drive is compatible with the new Shimano DI2 compatible. It therefore supports the new functions such as Free- and Autoshift. However, the new electronics also mean that old batteries are no longer compatible with the new system. In addition to the new updates, the EP801 e-bike motor is also said to have gained in power. Instead of 500, it should be able to push 600 watts. The control unit is also new and displays the battery status and riding mode via LED. If you want more information, you can connect your Garmin device to the motor or call up the data via your smartphone.
The X System battery in the iLynx+ has 540 watt hours and is said to have a range of 130 kilometres. If you want more capacity, you can buy a range extender. This increases the system to 720 watt hours. The additional battery is already included with the purchase of the top models. To remove the battery, there is an opening on the top tube. The battery can then be pulled out completely.
The same frame platform serves as the basis. Two variants of the iLynx+ were developed from this: the Trail series with 140 millimetres and an Enduro series with 160 millimetres at the rear. Both use the Split Pivot rear triangle. This is designed to make the e-bike more active and efficient. There are also slight differences in the geometry of the bikes. The Enduro version has a slacker seat and steering angle compared to the Trail series. The difference is one degree in each case. The reach is also three millimetres longer on the Enduro version.
During development, great importance was attached to robustness and lightness. The result is a lightweight carbon frame. According to the manufacturer, it should weigh 2450 grams - that would not be much for an e-MTB with a removable battery. BH Bikes also places great emphasis on integration. All cables disappear under the stem into the inside of the frame. The seat clamp is integrated into the top tube to create a clean look. The BlockLock system from Acros limits the turning radius of the handlebars to 120 degrees to prevent damage to the frame in the event of a fall or a sharp turn of the handlebars. The Super Boost standard is now used on the rear axle. This allows for more stable wheels and tyres up to 2.5 inches wide.
