Advanced has been building e-bikes for the city since 2011 - the manufacturer only changed its name from "Ebike" to Advanced in 2021. E-MTBs have also been in the portfolio for some time under the model name "Offroad". Including a step-through e-mountainbike. The top-of-the-range Advanced Offroad Pro Race model is now aimed at the upper end of the market. Starting at 9499 euros, it comes with a full carbon frame, which should reduce the total weight to under 22 kilos depending on the equipment and, according to the manufacturer, is suitable for competitive use.
The chassis is also well equipped with a Rockshox ZEB fork and a Superdeluxe damper, both of which pump 160 millimetres of suspension travel into the frame. In the top model of the Advanced Offroad Pro Race for 11499 euros, even in the Ultimate version.
The centrepiece of this e-bike is the new and limited edition Bosch Performance CX Race Motor. The compact drive weighs 150 grams less than the normal CX, 2.75 kilograms, but provides up to 400 per cent pedal assistance with the 750 Wh battery - where the standard CX Bosch motor only provides 340 per cent. However, the maximum torque remains the same (high) at 85 Newton metres.
The exclusive Race mode of the Bosch Smart System (now shown in red on the Kiox display) brings power to the trail in a controlled manner. The integrated Hill Hold function is also practical. It prevents the Advanced Offroad Pro Race from rolling back on inclines, making it easier to get started.
Advanced tries to avoid cables and wires on its latest E-MTB. This is why wireless connections are used for the gears and dropper post. The top model has a Sram X01 AXS drivetrain and a Rockshox Reverb AXS dropper post - both wirelessly controlled by radio. The "economy" version still has a Sram GX Eagle AXS. In general, however, Advanced doesn't like to show its cards when it comes to the (very limited) configuration. There is no information on the wheels or other components, for example.
According to the manufacturer, the Advanced Offroad Pro Race will be available in limited quantities from selected Advanced dealers from February 2023. At the moment, however, the terms "selected" and "limited" seem to play an important role if you are interested in such an e-mountainbike.
In fact, a very limited dealer selection of two or three also appears on the website if you decide in favour of one or other configuration. These are often several hundred kilometres away - depending on the location you specify. And this is despite the fact that a large number of potential dealers are generally listed for Advanced. The distribution or production of the Advanced Offroad Pro E-MTB therefore appears to be still under construction.
One According to the press report the Frankfurt-based company "E Bike Advanced Technologies" is investing more than 12 million euros in a new technology and innovation centre in Niedersachsenpark in Neuenkirchen-Vörden. The company plans to manufacture up to 100,000 e-bikes per year - including urban, city and trekking bikes - at Niedersachsenpark in the future, with production set to begin in the second quarter of 2023. The company has also set a target:
"We want to be the first climate-neutral e-bike brand by 2025 and are pursuing the vision of a circular economy." - Website Advanced
The main component of the circular economy is the already produced Reco-Bike from Advanced, which has a 100% recyclable frame made from recycled material. According to the company, nothing less than the mobility of the future is to be created with state-of-the-art storage and production control and a self-sufficient energy concept.
