A large stroke volume, maximum low price and surprisingly stable stand: The Crivit XL floor pump from Lidl surprises in the practical test with decent performance for the money. At the same time, there are clear limits in terms of precision, effort and workmanship. The detailed test shows for whom the discounter pump is a sensible solution - and why it is unlikely to make ambitious riders happy.

Topics in this article

The XL floor pump from Lidl for 11.99 euros A very large stroke volume of 476 cm³ and therefore noticeably more air per stroke than standard pumps. The discounter pump also has a wide steel base that provides a secure hold. The soft-touch handle has a slightly ergonomic shape and sits comfortably in the hand.

The high-quality double pump head fits car and racing bike valves (Schrader and Presta), the high-pressure hose is neatly fixed in place with a clip. The integrated pressure gauge measures up to 11 bar and is easy to read. Balls, air mattresses and toys can also be inflated with the enclosed adapter set. A robust, powerful pump for everyday use and sport.

Practical test: a lot of pump for the money, but with clear limits

The Crivit floor pump from the discounter range shows in the test how much (or how little) you can expect for around ten euros. The first positive feature is the metal base. Despite the overall very high design, the pump is surprisingly stable. This is important because the pump generates a large volume per stroke and requires a stable stand.

The build quality is less convincing: the piston runs noticeably wobbly in the cylinder. The handle also sits loosely on the piston and the rubber rotates easily - a typical sign of the low price. These wobbles are exacerbated by the height. Overall, the design is functional but not very precise.

Pumping behaviour & effort

The Crivit requires high manual force even at low pressures. Anyone who regularly wants to apply high pressures to road or gravel tyres will quickly reach their limits here. The large pump volume is an advantage for quick inflation, but efficiency suffers from the high effort required and the wobbly mechanics.

How do you like this article?

The valve head is basically usable, but has one weakness: air escapes quickly when attaching and removing it if you don't work quickly. Positive: The lever is folded down, which is ergonomically comfortable.

Pressure gauge: well-intentioned, poorly made

A striking feature of the Crivit pump: the pressure gauge shows the Bar scale outside - a plus point. However: The Intermediate steps are barely legibleonly the 0.5 bar markings are clearly recognisable. In addition, the Measuring accuracy around 0.4 bar offwhich is too much for precise road bike pressures. This is sufficient for everyday bikes, but the pump from the discounter is too inaccurate for sporty use.

The Crivit floor pump is a classic price-performance case: For a good ten euros, you get a functional, stable pump with large volume reserves - but also clear weaknesses in terms of precision, effort and workmanship. It's absolutely okay for occasional users, but we can't make a recommendation for ambitious riders.
