There is hardly a product in the sports segment that Decathlon does not also serve with one of its numerous own brands. And of course, France's sporting goods giant also has a floor pump for bicycles in its range. In 2024, the Floor pump 900 even won the Red Dot Award for its design, and you have to hand it to Decathlon, for just 29.99 you get a pretty chic pump with a high-quality look.
But what do you want with an Italian designer race car if the engine from the Fiat Panda is running under the bonnet? What I want to say is that looks are nothing if the function isn't right. But even here there is little to complain about with the 900 floor pump: the large pump stands stably on a wide steel base. The cylinder and piston are also made of metal. Particularly striking: the huge pressure gauge - unfortunately with an internal bar display. The pump head clamps all common valve types and gives a green signal as soon as the valve is correctly clamped.
At 90 centimetres, the hose is a little short for the size of the pump, and the ball needle and mattress adapter are not included.

The pump is built exceptionally high, which is particularly favourable for tall riders. The long piston ensures an enormous extension height and therefore a large stroke volume. Visually, the pump looks pleasingly high-quality for its price.
The handle sits comfortably in the hand, is neatly rounded and free from annoying edges. Despite its size, the pump remains very stable thanks to its wide base - practically nothing wobbled in the test.
Thanks to the large volume per stroke, a 29er tyre can be inflated extremely quickly: from 0.5 to 2.5 bar, the Decathlon pump only needs around 30 strokes - a very good value. However, there is a catch: the manual force required is higher than with many other models. Anyone who frequently needs high pressures or has rather delicate hands will notice this.
The Giant pressure gauges on the base is a real highlight. The plus points: large bar and PSI scales, easy to read even from a distance, High measuring accuracy - in the test at 2.5 bar with almost pinpoint accuracy. The only disadvantage: the bar scale only shows 0.5 bar incrementswhich makes exact reading somewhat more difficult.
The valve head basically works well, but has two weaknesses: It does not always close tightly immediately when it is fitted. Pressure can easily be lost when pulling it off if you don't work cleanly. The clamping lever is pleasantly rounded, but it has to be pressed upwards - ergonomically less comfortable than systems that close downwards. In addition, the seat is not always completely airtight, especially if the valve is at a slight angle.
The hose is surprisingly short for the size of the pump. This restricts freedom of movement and appears unbalanced in relation to the overall design.

The Decathlon floor pump is a stable, fast and very precise pump that is particularly suitable for tall riders*.inside with high volume requirements. Small weaknesses in the valve head and the short hose spoil the overall impression somewhat, but do not change the fact that the pump is a highly recommended option in its price range.
