Trentino - This Italian province has always been a hotspot for mountain bikers. Just the all-time classics such as the Tremalzo on Lake Garda, the Sella Ronda, the historic 100 Kilometri dei Forti on the Alpe Cimbra with its old First World War forts, and the breathtakingly scenic Val Venegia near San Martino, which probably every Alpine crosser has marvelled at at least once.
But more and more bike parks are also springing up from the typically jagged Trentino mountain rock. In the Dolomiti Paganella Bike Park alone, a week is now barely enough to cover the entire 100-kilometre network – and new trails are still being added. This year, too, there was a freshly laid line to celebrate at the legendary opening party at the end of May.
Speaking of celebrations: Trentino has, of course, frequently hosted Mountain Bike World Cups and World Championships in recent years. But this year there are three events: in June, the Enduro World Cup takes place in Val di Fassa; at the end of August, the UCI World Championships in Downhill and Cross Country are held in Val di Sole; and in September, the marathon racers will battle it out for the world title in San Martino di Castrozza.
The people of Trentino have long since proven that they can create a world-class atmosphere. That is why they have now been awarded the UCI Cycling World Championships for 2031. This is a guarantee that their strong commitment to cycling will certainly not wane in the run-up to the event!
To give you a taste of the new routes and trails ahead of your next cycling holiday, we’ve put together a list of the best cycling spots in Trentino for you:
