With the new Watchfit 4, 4 Pro and Watch 5 smartwatches, Huawei is reorganising its portfolio of smartwatches. The technology giant from China is well aware that two thirds of all young adults now wear wearables and has packed the new Watchfit with sports and everyday functions. The latest sensor technology is designed to help better track personal movement and monitor health aspects. From temperature measurement and ECG to GPS recording, the new Huawei Watchfit can do virtually everything. The new generation also boasts a thin design, NFC payment and up to ten days of battery life. We took a closer look at the new smartwatches from China.
The new Watchfit 4 made of aluminium alloy offers a cost-effective entry into the world of new smartwatches from Huawei and already has numerous sensors and health management functions. Compared to the more expensive versions, it does not have an ECG feature, among other things.
Huawei claims to have optimised the Watchfit 4 Pro with a titanium case for outdoor sports and certified its water resistance to category 5 ATM. The Chinese company has taken the opportunity to install every conceivable sensor in the new smartwatch. These can record a wide range of data and thus map the most modern functions. This includes, for example, an electrocardiogram (ECG), which can help to recognise cardiac arrhythmia at an early stage. A GPS sensor for the accurate recording of movement routes is also on board. This should also enable even more precise navigation than the competition. Of course, the Huawei Watchfit 4 Pro also has all the functions for sleep monitoring, including sleep breathing monitoring. Speakers and microphones are installed for telephony. Wireless interfaces to the smartphone are a matter of course. The watch is compatible with Android 9.0 or higher and iOS 13.0 or higher. The brightness of the display enables a torch function. Depending on the model, the 9.5 millimetre thick strap fits wrists between 120 and 210 millimetres in size. Various straps and customisable styles should be able to pick up anyone interested in buying the watch. Cost: 279 euros
In addition to the revised Watchfit 4 Pro, Huawei is also presenting the Watch 5, which is also made from high-quality materials and comes with all kinds of modern technology. These include, for example, the option for contactless NFC payment via the smartwatch - which the Watchfit 4 Pro also has. To match your personal style, model number five comes with even more interchangeable straps and colour options. The watch interface can be customised to suit individual requirements via a number of download functions: from the look of an analogue diver's watch to a cute kitten. An eSIM can be integrated into the smartwatch, making it possible to make calls without a mobile phone. The X-Tap health sensor should be able to carry out a quick health check with just one touch of the finger. Depending on the materials and wristband, the high-performance smartwatch costs between 449 and 649 euros.
