Amazfit is expanding its smartwatch portfolio with the new Active 2. T-Rex 3 in a new colour - more information below. The new Active 2 sports watch is aimed at active users who prefer a compact and lightweight smartwatch - and at a very favourable price.
With a weight of 29.5 grams (standard model) or 31.7 grams (premium version), the Amazfit Active 2 is significantly lighter than many competitor models. The housing and the two side buttons are made of stainless steel. According to the manufacturer, the low-mounted buttons should not restrict freedom of movement on the wrist during training.
The central element of the Amazfit Active 2 is the 1.32-inch Amoled display. With a peak brightness of 2000 nits, it should be easy to read even in bright sunlight. The premium version also features scratch-resistant sapphire glass.
The centrepiece of the sensor system is the new optical BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor, which monitors bodily functions. In combination with an accelerometer, gyroscope and improved algorithms, it enables precise measurements of health parameters, according to Amazfit. The Active 2 records sleep and breathing, heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, stress level and body temperature, among other things.
With over 160 supported sports modes, the Amazfit Active 2 covers a wide range of activities. These include endurance, strength and technical sports. The smartwatch also works with selected peripherals, including: Heart rate belts, speed and power meters and devices for measuring cadence when cycling.
Also interesting for biking: The Active 2 offers integrated offline map material. This allows users to access map data even without a smartphone connection.
However, the support is particularly extensive for running. The smartwatch makes it possible to configure training views with individually relevant parameters. For strength athletes, the watch recognises 25 different exercises and evaluates the execution in terms of continuity, rhythm and stability. After training, the Zepp app visualises the intensity of the muscle groups used.
The Active 2 is the first smartwatch with the new, in-house operating system Zepp OS 4.5, which brings a number of new features: The voice assistant Zepp Flow now supports voice prompts and reading out notifications.
The revised notification centre displays images from Android notifications and enables zooming. A new system keyboard supports text and voice input in several languages. The accessibility functions have also been expanded, for example with a gradual font size adjustment.
Despite the compact housing, Amazfit promises a battery life of up to 10 days with normal use. With intensive use of the sports functions, the 270 mAh battery should last around 5 days.
The Amazfit Active 2 is available in two versions in Europe: the standard model of the sports watch costs 99 euros, while the premium version with sapphire crystal, additional sports wristband and Zepp Pay function for contactless payments costs 129 euros. The smartwatch is sold via the European Amazfit and Amazon websites as well as selected retailers.
Alongside the launch of the Active 2, Amazfit is also expanding the range of the robust outdoor smartwatch T-Rex 3, which was released last autumn. In addition to the existing black and red versions, the model is now also available in grey.
For the market launch, Amazfit is now offering the grey T-Rex 3 in a promotional set with the wireless Amazfit Up earbuds (RRP 49,90 Euro) to. The bundle costs 299 Euro and is available until the end of February or while stocks last.
The T-Rex 3 has a 1.5-inch AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 2000 nits. The housing, frame and buttons are made of stainless steel. The smartwatch also offers free offline maps with street names, terrain and ski slopes as well as reverse navigation to the starting point. The Amazfit T-Rex 3 is designed to last up to 3 weeks on a single charge and up to 180 hours in GPS mode.
