The 1943 gram frame sets new standards in the 130 millimetre travel class. This also enables the Last Asco to achieve a top value in terms of overall weight (11.93 kilos) - without any trickery with the equipment, mind you. The 140-millimetre Pike fork, the grippy Maxxis tyres and the solid four-piston brake system offer plenty of downhill potential.

The geometry gives a clear direction: downhill, and fast! The wheelbase is long, the steering angle is slack - the Last Asco literally has shooting in its blood. Our test bike in size 190 is unfortunately very large and can only be compared with the values of the competition to a limited extent. But even with a size smaller, the reach of 470 millimetres would still be on the long side. Nevertheless, the super steep seat angle creates an upright and propulsion-orientated riding position with a lot of pressure on the front wheel.

At the beginning of the test, fast acceleration was still suppressed by the somewhat lively rear end.
suppressed. With increased compression damping, however, things calmed down a little. When the gradient turns into a descent, the high front end and wide cockpit exude a lot of confidence.
safety. The Flexpivot rear suspension with Deluxe Ultimate shock responds sensitively. The 130 millimetres of travel lead to a strong progression early on. In combination with the low weight, the bike can be effortlessly manoeuvred and pulled into flight mode on any off-road edge. The disadvantage: the suspension does not provide a remarkably plush ride feel. The Pike was also surprisingly firm. The reason for this was the Rockshox Volume spacer. Without tokens, however, the fork willingly releases the suspension travel and eases the situation on bumpy trails.

Conclusion from Peter Nilges, BIKE test manager:

"The Last Asco reminds us of the confidence of an all-mountain bike on the descents. Long tours are a breeze with the right setup and thanks to the lightweight construction. A classy all-rounder for demanding terrain."
