The climbing characteristics of the T2.2 Evo speak for themselves, and the Stoll also has exceptional riding dynamics on flat sections.

On the face of it, the Stoll T2.2 Evo is the heaviest mountain bike that we have ever tested from the Swiss luxury manufacturer. On the other hand, the increased suspension travel and the uncompromising tyres make the T2.2 Evo more downhill-oriented than ever.

In terms of the new key data with the 150 millimetre fork and the reinforced frame, which has greater impact protection on the down tube, the Stoll T2.2 Evo also stands out from the crowd with ease at just 12.11 kilos (without pedals). This means that the latest mountain bike fully from Stoll The new model has a unique agility and propulsion that impressed all testers.

Despite the long fork, the riding position is very sporty. The low stack and the low bike-ahead cockpit put pressure on the front wheel. Although we had to push the saddle far forwards due to the slack seat angle (long fork), the seat length still remains sporty and allows for an effective climbing position. The VPP rear suspension responds extremely sensitively and provides the rider with permanent traction when climbing.

The sensitive rear suspension is also impressive downhill and generates plenty of pop for an active riding style. However, due to the extremely strong progression towards the end of the stroke, the rear is stingy with travel. In steep and rough sections, the rear suspension therefore reaches its limit earlier than the 150cc Lyrik, which means that the Evo is more trail bike than all-mountain. As the longer fork and offset headset also shorten the reach, riders over 1.85 metres will have a problem finding the right size. The Evo would be more harmonious with a 140 mm fork (possible via the configurator).

The damper stroke theoretically allows 145 millimetres of travel. In practice, however, less can be utilised due to the strong progression.Photo: Max FuchsThe damper stroke theoretically allows 145 millimetres of travel. In practice, however, less can be utilised due to the strong progression.

Conclusion on the Stoll T2.2 Evo by Peter Nilges, BIKE test manager:

The Stoll T2.2 Evo is more of a trail bike with reserves than a downhill-orientated all-mountain bike. Thanks to the combination of low weight and decent suspension travel, the Stoll is an excellent choice on almost any MTB trail.
