"This bike was developed with the aim of enjoying the climbs as much as the descents. We love the Rascal, but we wanted something a little lighter and faster." This is how the guys from Revel Bikes announce their latest mountain bike: the Ranger. The carbon frame of the 29-inch bike comes with the CBF rear triangle, which Revel also uses on its other two bikes, the Rascal and Rail. The Ranger provides 115 millimetres of rear suspension travel. The complete bikes are fitted with 120 millimetre suspension forks, but you can also ride a 130 mm fork. Tyres up to 2.6 inches wide can be fitted to the 29er wheels. This makes the Ranger a sports tourer, i.e. a light, sporty touring fully that feels particularly at home on the home circuit in the low mountain range or on long bike tours. Similar to a Cannondale Scalpel SE, Rose Thrill Hill Trail, Nicolai Saturn 11 or Rocky Mountain Element, which we have just tested extensively in BIKE 7/20. have.
The steering angle of the new Ranger is 67.5 degrees with a seat angle of 75.3 degrees. In combination with a reasonable but not too long reach (473 mm in size L) and its 436 millimetre chainstays, the Ranger should be very well balanced. The frame weight is said to be one pound lighter than the Rascal, which we tested in the BIKE lab at 3060 grams have weighed. There is a holder for water bottles at the top and bottom of the down tube. Revel has also given the Ranger additional brackets in the upper frame triangle to mount accessories. The Ranger is available in four frame sizes with a lifetime guarantee. The frameset including the Rockshox SIDluxe Ultimate costs 2800 dollars, while three models are available as complete bikes from 5000 dollars.
The Ranger can now be pre-ordered via the Revel Bikes website, with delivery scheduled for July 2020. In Germany, the Revel bikes are available from Traffic Distribution distributed.
