The recently introduced Top Fuel 9.9 marked by Trek would actually be the top of the new trail bike line-up if there wasn't a 1000 euro more expensive version with Sram AXS gears. But even so, the light-footed high-end trail bike leaves nothing to be desired. The reorientation has given the former race bike a little more suspension travel, allowing it to outgrow the marathon category. 120 millimetres at the front and, depending on the flip-chip setting on the upper shock mount, 123 or 131 millimetres at the rear. A more favourable alternative is the Trek Top Fuel 9.7 for 4000 euros, which uses the same carbon frame as the Fuel 9.9 top model tested.
