Social rides, guided tours with riding technique sessions, a bike parade, a second-hand market, drinks and live music – the “Las Ciclistas” women-only cycling day returns for its second edition on 12 September in the Engadin. Whether you’re on a road bike, gravel bike, mountain bike or hybrid bike.

Celerina – a neighbouring village to St. Moritz – lies at the point where the tarmac hairpin bends of the Bernina and Julier Passes meet, as do the MTB trails of Piz Nair, Bernina and the iconic Alta Rezia region. In between, the gravel paths wind and meander through the Canadian-style forests and alpine pastures of the Upper Engadine lake district. The perfect setting, then, for a major women’s event featuring all types of cycling.

The idea: to inspire one another

Once again this year, we’re planning social rides (individual groups with GPS) and a variety of guided tours with a guide, as well as riding technique exercises. At the end of the day, all the groups will come together for a joint cycle parade, which will roll colourfully and cheerfully through the quaint alleyways from Celerina to Samedan. Drinks and canapés will then kick off the evening programme: starting with a second-hand market where you can browse, buy and sell. Afterwards, female experts will be running various workshops, before the Ciclistas Night kicks off at 7 pm with dinner, drinks and live music.

Once again, the focus will be on the community spirit: spending the whole day with amazing women, finding inspiration and catching the cycling bug, enjoying outdoor activities together in the Engadin mountains, and feasting and celebrating together in the evening.

New this year: Any women travelling from further afield can sign up for tour camps organised specifically to coincide with the festival date, running throughout the festival weekend. Or they can set off on a trail tour of their own accord. The Upper Engadine is brimming with iconic tours that are well worth doing at least once.
