It is one of the most scenic in the Alps and will take place for the 25th time in August 2026: the National Park Bike Marathon in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It's a matter of honour to sign up for the Vallader route with 141 kilometres and 3848 metres of altitude. Right?

You have to like ramps and should be able to cope with 1.3 kilometres of pushing. The rest is - if you are in good shape, of course - pure enjoyment: the bike marathon around the Swiss National Park has always been celebrated for its magnificent scenery and iconic crossings such as Costainas (2251 m), Döss Radond (2234 m), Alpisella (2299 m) and Chaschauna (2692 m).

Over the years, the amount of singletrack has also increased, which was initially prohibited even in Graubünden due to national park regulations. The route profile now includes 13.2 kilometres of singletrack fun.

The few notable tarmac sections are left behind with the first climb shortly after Scuol. If you don't feel up to the long loop in terms of fitness, you can now compete in teams of two or four.

National Park Bike Marathon: Anniversary routes & starting locations 2026

The special thing about this marathon, however, is the different starting locations around the national park and the shorter distances you can choose from:

  • Scuol: 141 kilometres / 3848 vertical metres (Vallader route)
  • Fuldera (Val Müstair): 107 kilometres / 2756 vertical metres (Jauer route)
  • Livigno: 70 kilometres / 1767 vertical metres (Livignasco route)
  • S-chanf: 47 kilometres / 870 vertical metres (Putèr route)
  • Zernez: 33 kilometres / 435 metres in altitude (Zernez route)

Participants will be shuttled from Scuol to their respective starting locations (Fuldera, Livigno, S-chanf or Zernez) on Saturday morning.
