The big bike magazines once tried it with special pages for women, but Girlsridetoo had already ventured online with an all-female online platform. Including the "Get Out" weekend in the Upper Engadine - a cult MTB event for women that is celebrating its 18th birthday this year!

There are now countless tours, riding technique courses and camps organised by women for women. But when Judith Lell and her website "Girlsridetoo", which had just been launched at the time, invited women-only bikers to a weekend in the Upper Engadine in 2008, she was one of the pioneers. High alpine trail tours for women - and in expensive Switzerland of all places! But despite all the prophecies of doom, the event was a success.

It's all about the shared trail experience

Why? Because Andrea Hahn and Patricia Roth from the "Bikeagentur" helped the Munich woman to put together an affordable package at cost price. The concept was to simply organise a long weekend together for women with a passion for trails who also enjoy challenging sections. It was of course a stroke of luck that they were able to win over the "Palü" bike hotel in Pontresina. The 3-star hotel is located in the centre of the Upper Engadine, right at the entrance to the famous Bernina trails, with excellent food and a wellness area.

The fact that this overall concept works so well and is celebrating its 18th birthday this year is not only due to the magnificent scenery of the Upper Engadine and the surprise evening that is lovingly organised every year, but probably also to the fact that places for this cult event are limited to 25 participants, thus preserving the sense of community. So if you still want to secure a place for the first weekend in July, you should act quickly.

The trail tours 2026

The tours are selected anew every year. Hotel boss Gerold is always personally out and about in the area as a trail scout. To mark this year's anniversary, there will be a best-of of the last 17 Get Outs, which will be guided at different levels:

Tour 1: Bernina Pass and Val Minor (30 km / 1000 m difference in altitude)

The trail starts right outside the hotel door and leads up to the Bernina Pass in a very scenic and gentle ascent. Another crisp climb up to Fuorcla Minor, then the tour turns off into the lonely Val Minor. With an initially rocky, later increasingly flowing trail that leads back to the Bernina Trail and back to the hotel. (30 km / 1000 m ascent)

Tour 2: Ravais-ch lakes (40 km / 1200 metres altitude)

The Rhaetian Railway takes you comfortably to S-chanf, where a forest road leads up to the Sella da Ravais-ch, followed by a trail from Alp Funtauna and, towards the end, a pushing section. 1000 metres in altitude in one go, but it's worth it, because up here not only the turquoise-blue Ravais-ch lakes await, but also incredibly beautiful trails to Chants and Bergün on the Albula Pass. You then return to the Engadin in comfort on the Rhaetian Railway. (40 km / 1200 hm)

Tour 3: Piz Nair and Val Suvretta

The mountain railway takes you up to the 3056 metre-high Piz Nair, then on its legendary trails to the Suvretta Pass and on down through Val Suvretta. Here you have the option of taking the Fopettas Flowtrail down into the valley and continuing via the Stazerwald forest back to the hotel or taking the challenging climb on the Via Engiadina and descending to Silvaplana.
