Berlin is more than just a cool scene capital. The surrounding forests are a refuge for stress-ridden city bikers. An enduro excursion to Teufelsberg with Rick Schubert and Aiko Köhler.

There are people who admire Berlin as an ultra-cool scene capital but misunderstand it as one of the worst mountain bike spots in Germany. However, BIKE reporter Henri Lesewitz discovered that there is a pretty active mountain bike community in and around the Spree metropolis in his Berlin area check already worked out many years ago.

And although the highest elevations in Berlin consist of piles of rubble just over 120 metres high, the gravity scene is flourishing. Enduro rider Rick Schubert and fourcross world champion Aiko Göhler take us on a tour of the city in this worthwhile video from Mirko Wakat on their home trails around the Teufelsberg in Grunewald. Have fun with it!

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
