Creativity in the design of the Canyon//SRAM Racing jersey

Colours represent sounds? That was exactly the designer's idea. The design called "Harmonic Riff" is intended to embody the sounds and rhythms of a race day, according to the Canyon designers. From the gentle whirring of the freewheel to the cheers of the crowd, brilliant riffs in harmonious colours envelop the rider. This way of depicting the movement and the mix of colours flows dynamically into one another and is intended to embody the impact of the team in the race.

In a song, a constant tension of riffs and progressions attracts our attention. The highs and lows form the framework of a song and create space for starting points, be it a breakdown, a lead or a solo. But at the end of the day, everything is built around this harmonic flow. - Designer McKenzie Sampson

The sounds of a race day - music on the jersey

The Canyon//SRAM Racing designers think very creatively and unconventionally. Just like in a song, there are always pauses and solos during the race. Impulses and rest phases. The race reflects the journey you experience when you listen to music: the opening riff, the short interludes, the big climb. Then the climax of victory. It was an important element for the designers to incorporate this dynamic into the new jersey and to visualise it.

Last year, the jersey featured high pressure areas as they occur in the atmosphere. This year Canyon took the idea further and worked with Ultan Coyle (Canyon's Global Creative Director) on the new idea - Coyle was responsible for the previous Canyon//SRAM Racing jersey designs.

Design reflects the Canyon//SRAM Racing mentality

Kasia Niewiadoma from CANYON//SRAM Racing says: "The design fits perfectly with how we present ourselves and how we are perceived: vibrant, sharp and combative. As a member of our team, which is made up of so many nationalities, I love wearing a jersey that is characterised by its unique design - just as we are all so different and yet so similar, from the youngest to the oldest team member."
