In 1888, founder Anton Kreidler began his entrepreneurial career and initially started with the production of wires. Thanks to his success, he continuously expanded his product range and later brought his son, graduate engineer Alfred Kreidler, into the company. After completing his studies, he gained experience in the field of design, including in the automotive industry. Following his passion for fast motorbikes, he soon began designing, manufacturing and selling motorbikes.

After a chequered history, the brand rights were taken over by Prophete in 1987. Shortly afterwards, the company founded its own company, which concentrated exclusively on the production of two-wheelers for the specialised trade - today's New Cycle GmbH. Within this company, Kreidler has developed into one of the most successful German brands for e-bikes and bicycles.
