Low weight, high price: The lightest racing bike of the year is also the most exclusive. Schmolke charges an astronomical price of 16,500 euros for the Leggerissima TLO. According to a recent ADAC survey, this makes the 5.4-kilo bike even more expensive than the cheapest small cars from Dacia, Mitsubishi and Mazda.
You don't have to approve of the XXL price and you can of course scrutinise it very critically. After all, the novelty is out of reach for the average earner. However, with "The Lightest One", the carbon specialist from Constance shows what is technically possible in 2024 and is likely to make technology fans' eyes light up. Our technical editors and test riders were no different; the playful, light handling of the Schmolke simply cannot be compared with a "normal" racing bike.
Just behind the Leggerissima is the Parlee Ouray, a supposedly exotic bike. The all-road bike from the US brand, whose founder Bob Parlee lost his battle with cancer in 2024, is on offer for a whopping 16,000 euros. Part of the extreme price can be explained by the European production of the frameset. As with the Simplon IV, the chassis of the Parlee is also manufactured in Portugal.
In third place, however, was a representative from Italy: the Pinarello Dogma F. The tested version with SRAM Red AXS and carbon wheels from DT Swiss had a price tag of 15350 euros. According to the manufacturer, the revised Dogma, which TOUR has so far only been able to ride as part of the presentation in South Tyrol, starts at 14,500 euros. Pinarello announced a price of 14900 euros for the version with Shimano Dura-Ace and Princeton wheels.
