Giant is positioning its new Anytour models as versatile e-bikes for tours that go beyond classic cycle paths and are designed to enable real adventures. While the Anytour E+ is designed for comfort and relaxed riding on tarmac roads, the Anytour X E+ is aimed at riders who also want to tackle unpaved paths and easy terrain.
The two model variants differ in their orientation: The Anytour E+ focuses on an upright riding position with curved handlebars and a shorter reach for maximum comfort on longer tours. The Anytour X E+, on the other hand, offers adventure-oriented equipment with more suspension travel, wider tyres and more robust geometry for changing terrain.
However, both versions share the same basic philosophy: a stable, balanced frame that, according to the manufacturer, is 10 per cent lighter and 12.5 per cent stiffer than its predecessor - two aspects that are not easy to combine, especially for step-through models.
The motor used is the SyncDrive Sport 3 from Giant, which works with the Smart Assist system. This uses six sensors to adapt the motor assistance in real time to the cadence, power input and terrain. The system is designed to provide smooth and controlled assistance, particularly at low speeds and high cadences. Some of the entry-level models of the Anytour E+ are equipped with the somewhat weaker Syncdrive Sport 2 and the batteries can be easily removed from the top of the frame. Depending on the model and price, the battery has 625 or 800 watt hours.
Selected models also feature an electronic Shimano CUES LinkGlide Di2 drivetrain with 11 gears, which is specially designed for the high torque levels of e-bikes.
Giant equips the Anytour series with its E+ system, which integrates various digital features. The RideControl Ergo 4 and Go2 controls and the RideDash EVO display give riders access to riding modes, system status and riding data.
The series also offers optional safety and connectivity functions:
These features are designed to ensure greater safety and visibility, especially on longer tours. One highlight is the Aegis radar system, which we have already been able to test on the Giant Explore E+.
Both models have a suspension seat post with a lowering function that can be adjusted while riding. This allows for quick adjustments on changing terrain - the saddle can be lowered on challenging sections, while the higher position ensures efficient pedalling power on flat stretches. The voluminous tyres and sturdy wheels round off the concept for long-distance tours.
The new trekking e-bikes from Giant are now available in stores. The Anytour E+ and the Anytour X E+ are each available in five equipment variants between 3799 and 5799 euros. Only the two affordable versions of the Anytour E+ are available with a classic top tube.
