Tahnée Seagrave (29) grew up with her brother Kaos (also a professional biker) in the biking paradise of Morzine. The British rider (born in south London) began her World Cup career in downhill in 2012 and immediately won silver at the World Championships, becoming Junior World Champion the following year. She continued her success in the elite class until she was slowed down by a series of injuries. Tahnée returned in 2023 and immediately won bronze again at the World Championships in Andorra. In 2025, Tahanée will compete in the Downhill World Cup as part of the ORBEA / FMD RACING team together with Phoebe Gale, Martin Maes, Darragh Ryan, brother Kaos Seagrave and Oliver Zwar.
For a year, I couldn't stop thinking about the 12 metre road gap at the Red Bull Hardline in Wales. Then I jumped it - all those shitty years of being injured and depressed made that moment one of the best of my life.
I would love to be able to do a backflip with the bike. However, there are still a few demons buzzing around in my head that have prevented me from doing so.
What I can't do? Doing my tax return. That's terrible! I need help with that!
I rarely get angry, I'm hardly ever angry at all. This feeling doesn't get you anywhere. However, some drivers put my patience to the test.
I love the thrill of dropping! More than anything else! When I hit the high gap at the Red Bull Hardline in Tasmania (2024), I felt my confidence skyrocket - that's when I knew: I've got it!
I think that moment had an impact on my 2024 racing season!
I enjoyed watching Sex Education on Netflix. Also really good: Yellowstone with Kevin Costner.
I really want to learn to surf! Due to my injuries, I have given up everything except mountain biking in order to fully focus on it. But I know that it's good to take a break from time to time, try out other things and keep the fun going.
Anything with high risk and high reward appeals to me.
Normally, I would call my dad first after a good race run. But I enjoy the luxury that my dad is always waiting for me at the finish line. He's the one who calls my mum and tells her that everything went well. Because my mum is far too nervous to watch it.
I started meditating, but unfortunately I stopped again. I should incorporate it back into my daily routine. I'm so hyperactive and my thoughts are constantly all over the place that meditation works wonders and manages to bring me down a bit. This inner peace is good for me.
The concussions I had some time ago were a big challenge. I had never experienced anything like it before in my life. I would never have thought it possible that a concussion could have such a huge impact on my well-being, both physically and mentally, over such a long period of time. It completely changed my perspective, not just on racing, but on my entire life.
My favourite film? Talladega Nights!
