As sports goggles with which outdoor sports enthusiasts can keep a clear view in all light conditions, the Austrians presented their Pathline Pro at the beginning of the year. Now comes the Pathline Air Pro. The lenses are fully rimmed and equipped with a new 3D ventilation system. Otherwise, it has the same features as the Pathline Pro.
The new feature is therefore the 3D ventilation system: two specially designed ventilation slits, positioned directly above a new lens guard (a 3D-printed element on the underside of the lenses), are intended to ensure optimised air circulation. Moisture is thus reliably dissipated and vision remains clear even during intense exertion.
As I said, the new air conditioning is just an additional feature of an otherwise already well-equipped pair of sports goggles. The lightweight weighs 28 grams and, according to the manufacturer, is a real all-rounder among sports goggles. Proven features already familiar from the Pathline Pro include the tilting mechanism of the lenses, which allows the lenses to be changed in a matter of seconds. The Austrians offer 14 filter colours with contrast-enhancing properties for optimum vision in all light conditions. Each filter colour is also available in individual prescription. Evil Eye offers the lenses with both LST and Vario filters. LST stands for Light Stabilising Technology. These filters optimise contrast and colour perception and thus compensate for rapid changes in light. However, the tint of the lenses does not change. Vario filters stand for photochromatic lenses, which means that they automatically adapt to different light conditions. They darken in strong sunlight and reduce the tint in low light. Such lenses are suitable for strongly changing light conditions, for example for tours that last from bright midday light to dusk. However, the reaction time of photochromatic lenses is too long to compensate for rapidly changing light conditions.
Other useful details of the Evil Eye Pathline Air Pro: the sweat bar on the upper edge of the goggles. It protects the eyes from dust and sweat, prevents the lenses from smudging and also ensures that the goggles remain stable and comfortable on the nose even on bumpy roads. With the Pathline Air Pro, the sweat bar also has a fashionable twist - it comes in a fancy metallic look. The temples can also be customised thanks to the flexible tri.fit function. And according to the manufacturer, a special scale structure on the temple ends guarantees a secure grip even on bumpy rides.
The Austrians keep their promise of quality particularly high, with prices ranging from 249 (with LST filter >> available here) and 329 euros (Vario filter). Evil Eye is part of the Silhouette Group, a family business in Linz. All glasses are developed and produced there, including the Evil Eye Pathline Air Pro. In the interests of sustainability, Silhouette offers an exchange service: If a part of the glasses is damaged, individual parts can easily be reordered. The Pathline Air Pro comes in two sizes and six different frame colours. A special service from Evil Eye: all glasses can also be customised with optical lenses.
