I can still remember my time in Munich very well. A smart old building. High ceilings. A stylish wooden staircase. Then our first child arrived, and with them came a problem we hadn’t anticipated: where to put the bulky pushchair? There was no room in the stairwell. The basement entrance was actually too narrow. The flat was on the third floor – with no lift. Of course, in our wisdom, we’d bought a two-seater straight away, which didn’t exactly make the problem any smaller. For us, the obvious solution has unfortunately come too late. For many young families, the New Croozer Lykke, but with its innovative folding system, it could well be something of a game-changer!
At the heart of Lykke lies the unusual folding mechanism. In just a couple of simple steps, the trailer can be adjusted to around 40 centimetres wide fold up – without having to remove the wheels. This is, as yet, a truly unique selling point in the children’s trailer segment. Until now, these practical children’s trailers could only be folded horizontally
Handy for everyday use: even when folded, the Lykke remains manoeuvrable and can be pushed along. This is likely to be a key advantage, particularly when used in hallways, small flats or cramped storage rooms.
To make this mechanism possible, Croozer has dispensed with a traditional continuous push bar. Instead, it uses two separately adjustable handles. These can be adjusted to three different heights and also provide space for an integrated brake lever with a parking function.
The Lykke is not just a bike trailer, but a truly multifunctional system. It comes as standard as a pushchair, with an optional jogger wheel available as an extra. The pushchair wheels are permanently integrated and can be easily folded away for use with the bike.
Inside, the trailer has space for two children, and a baby seat is available as an optional extra. This means the system can be used for a wide range of ages, from infants right through to pre-schoolers.
Croozer continues to rely on its tried-and-tested safety principle of a low centre of gravity, which is designed to make it harder for the trailer to tip over. If the towing bike falls over, the trailer remains stationary thanks to the swivelling coupling.
In detail, the security concept comprises:
As well as the folding mechanism, suitability for everyday use is a key factor. The Lykke is fully equipped to cope with changing weather conditions:
Ride comfort is ensured by the AirPad suspension, which is designed to adaptively compensate for uneven surfaces – a familiar feature from the Croozer range. Croozer has also given careful thought to visibility: battery-powered rear lights, reflectors and reflective elements enhance the bike’s visibility on the road. Practical details such as a viewing window to see the child and small storage pockets demonstrate the focus on suitability for everyday family use.
The Croozer Lykke addresses the very issue where many child bike trailers reach their limits in everyday use: space. The vertical folding design is a well-thought-out solution for urban environments with limited storage space. Added to this is a versatile range of uses, from cycling and walking to jogging. Technically, Croozer remains true to its philosophy and relies on tried-and-tested safety and comfort features. The price is at the higher end of the scale, but this is understandable given the range of functions and the quality of the build.
