The Canyon Strive:On is a completely new product from the Koblenz-based mail order company. Like its organic brother, the E-Enduro is also fully trimmed for racing. The geometry is correspondingly uncompromising. The reach and wheelbase are extremely long, the steering angle super slack and the seat angle steep. It's immediately clear: you don't want to ride round the quarry pond on this bike. The Strive:On cries out for challenging terrain.
In contrast to a non-motorised race enduro bike, an e-enduro bike also has to deliver top times on tough uphill sections. Bosch's Performance Line CX is used for this. Despite the super-long frame, the Canyon Strive:On doesn't sit stretched out. This is because the steep seat angle places the rider far forward on the bike. Good: With the straight seat tube, this also applies with a long dropper post. This riding position is not ideal on flat sections on an e-bike. On the other hand, you benefit on climbs, where the front wheel always gets a lot of pressure. On difficult climbs, the Strive:On convinces with a lot of control. The suspension is also extremely sensitive when the chain is pulled, generating a lot of traction.
The only points of criticism on technical climbs: the low bottom bracket provokes the odd crank bump, and with the very slack steering angle, the steering tilts at slow speeds.
Downhill, the Canyon Strive:On inspires a lot of confidence. The rider stands securely behind the high front end and in the centre of the bike. The suspension absorbs small and large bumps with ease. The plush rear end feels like a lot of travel.
The high-traction e-bike is particularly brilliant on long, rooty trails where it is otherwise difficult to hold the line or carry the momentum. The comfortable suspension saves a lot of energy here. On rough, very fast downhill trails, we would have liked a little more support and end progression at the rear. The more progressive Torque:On from Canyon is the better choice here.
The Strive:On is fast, potent and race-orientated. The handling suffers somewhat. We say: for rough terrain only!
