The very first glance makes it clear: Giant has thought through the topic of E-MTBs intensively and has put a real eye-catcher on the studs with the Full-E+. Yes, the bike is expensive! The industry giant from Taiwan charges 6799 euros for the 0-SX model - the top version. But it can also be cheaper: the versions below are around 4500 and 3500 euros.
Visually very similar, the PW unit from Yamaha works in all three models. Giant has its own tuning and runs under the name Giant SyncDrive. The drive has a smooth, confident character. The spontaneous and well-dosed engagement of the drive is particularly positive. In contrast, the battery cells are rather hidden in the down tube. However, despite the visually successful system integration, the battery can be removed quickly and easily to charge it or store it in warm conditions at low temperatures. Of course, the cables also disappear inside the frame. The motor pulls well at low speeds at the highest level, but loses some power at the top end. This forces the rider to pedal at a low cadence. Once you get used to this, even steep sequences are easy to ride.
The Nobby Nic's tyre pairing is tried and tested. At the front, the Trailstar compound keeps faithfully on track, while the slightly lighter rolling Pacestar version at the rear keeps wear and rolling resistance in check. The high-quality Rockshox Lyric at the front does its job well and, with 160 millimetres of travel, offers plenty of reserves for rough terrain. An important feature is the fork drop, which lowers the front of the bike slightly and thus increases the climbing characteristics considerably. The rear suspension also does an outstanding job. It is not overwhelmed by any riding situation and provides good feedback. This makes it easy to approach the limits of the bike. In fast sections, the Full-E+ stays on track faithfully, yet it reacts spontaneously to load changes and can be manoeuvred playfully in tight bends.
With the Full-E+, Giant delivers an absolutely harmonious overall package. The drive, performance, equipment and appearance offer little reason for criticism. A top bike for all-mountain riders with plenty of travel reserves.
The Giant Full-E+ moves effortlessly through the terrain. For an e-bike with 160 millimetres of suspension travel, 22.3 kilos is very light.
