Few bike brands can rightly be described as "cult brands" as Yeti from Colorado. This makes it all the more exciting that Yeti is now launching three bikes on the market in quick succession. First up is the Yeti SB160, a massive enduro bike with 160 millimetres of travel in a completely redesigned frame.

The newly shaped frame catches the eye from the very first glance: where the the old models While a half-round closed the rear triangle between the shock mount and the bottom bracket, the new Yeti SB160 is characterised by straight lines. According to Yeti, the aim of this update is to make the special, in-house rear suspension kinematics with Switch Infinity and shock mount stiffer and to achieve greater tyre clearance. Yeti has also worked on the carbon layup for the new bikes.

Speaking of Switch Inifintiy: There are also said to have been improvements here, which we will of course be testing for you as soon as possible. The SB160 also has a new shock mount, which should increase both the air space above the top tube (standover height) and the frame triangle for water bottles.

The SB160 will initially be available in two model variants

As usual with Yeti, the SB160 will be launched on the market in different versions. When and which one depends heavily on the current conditions in the industry. What is reasonably certain is that the first C2 and T1 variants will be available to buy in Germany from February 2023. The T stands for the high-end fullys of the Turq series, whereby the T1 is still the cheapest at 10,390 euros. The C series only differs in terms of equipment - the C2 is the most expensive of the two C models at 8490 euros.

Yeti SB160 C2 - the expensive entry-level model

Cheap is relative, because even just under 8500 euros is a lot of money. The SB160 C2 comes with a Fox Performance 38 suspension fork with 170 millimetres of travel and a Performance Float X shock with 160 mm of travel. The shifting centre and drivetrain are built by Sram with GX Eagle components throughout - the downhill is stopped by a Sram Code R brakes with 220/220 millimetre discs. All Yeti enduro bikes have dropper posts - the C2 comes with a OneUp dropper post. Yeti offers factory versions of the fork and shock as a possible upgrade for this MTB fully.

Yeti SB160 T1 - the affordable high-end bike

The T1 version of the Yeti SB160 comes with Factory suspension: Fox Factory 38 Grip 2 (170 mm) and Fox Factory Float X2 (160 mm). Although the gearing on the T1 is a Sram X01 Eagle, the cassette, chain and shifters remain at GX Eagle level. The brake system bears the Sram Code RSC logo and also uses 200 mm discs. A Fox Transfer Vario post takes care of the ups and downs on the saddle. All Yeti SB160 enduro bikes are fitted with Maxxis Assegai 2.5 EXO+ and Minion DHR II 2.4 EXO+ tyres.
