For 2022, Simplon is equipping the Cirex race bike presented last year with another frame with higher quality fibres. The Cirex frame with the suffix "SL" is said to be another 200 grams lighter than the already very light Cirex frame (1832 grams - BIKE measurement). However, the additional weight reduction due to the higher quality fibres naturally comes at a price. The SL frame is only used in the particularly high-quality Cirex models. However, both the cross-country version with 100 millimetres of suspension travel and the down-country version with 120 millimetres come at an entry-level price of 4999 euros.
The real star of the new Simplon-product line for 2022, however, is the completely redesigned All Mountain/Enduro Rapcon. The bike comes in 29 inches throughout and in two versions with 150 or 170/165 millimetres of suspension travel. The geometry has been compared to the predecessor has been significantly modernised and, in addition to the reach, the rear triangle now also grows with the four frame sizes from S to XL. The length of the chainstays is between 432 millimetres in size S and 447 millimetres in size XL to create a good balance between smoothness and playfulness on the trail for riders of all sizes.
The carbon enduro bike also relies on the lowest possible shock for a low centre of gravity, a low standover height and a straight seat tube in favour of the longest possible dropper post. The price starts at 4799 euros.
We have already tested both the Cirex SL and the enduro version of the Rapcon. You can read the report on the Cirex SL in BIKE 12/21, the enduro test with the Rapcon will be available in BIKE 1/22 at the beginning of December.
