The Mondraker high-end enduro Superfoxy was previously quite exclusive due to its carbon frame. Now, for the first time, the enduro MTB is also available in aluminium, making it significantly more affordable.

The Mondraker Superfoxy belongs to the premier class of enduro mountain bikes. 170/160 millimetres of suspension travel, 29 inches for the best rollover characteristics, Mondraker's "Forward Geometry" and a sophisticated rear triangle. The problem: until now, the bike was only available in carbon ( to the Test of the Superfoxy Carbon RR) and that was correspondingly expensive. Now Mondraker is launching a more affordable aluminium version of the Superfoxy for the 2021 model year. The chance for enduro bikers and young bike park shredders without a big wallet.

Mondraker Superfoxy Alu: Frame and geometry

In terms of geometry, the aluminium bike is of course based on its big brother in carbon and, just like its big brother, is designed to combine smooth running and safety on descents with a comfortable riding position for pedalling. At 490 millimetres in frame size L, the reach is typically long for Mondraker and grows or shrinks by 20 millimetres per frame size. The head angle is 65 degrees slack, the seat angle is 76 degrees steep and the bottom bracket sits relatively high with a drop of only 20 millimetres. This should mean that touchdowns over deep steps should not be a problem, even downhill, although some people will wish they were even lower on the bike. Unlike the carbon model, the chainstays cannot be adjusted and are fixed at 445 millimetres in favour of smoothness.

Equipment and prices of the Mondraker Enduro

The Superfoxy starts at 3599 euros. That's not really cheap, but compared to the carbon model (from 6199 euros) it's almost a bargain. For the money, you get a Sram SX 12-speed drivetrain, Guide G2 R brakes and good suspension with the 38 mm Rockshox ZEB Select fork and Fox DPX2 Performance rear shock, both of which are easily adjustable in rebound and compression. The popular Maxxis DHF/DHR combination in the Exo+ version provides the necessary ground contact.
