The most difficult thing about a step or a downhill ledge is assessing which technique is required. The crucial point is whether you can simply roll over it with the E-MTB without rolling over. This depends not only on the height, but above all on the steepness of the run-out or landing. The steeper, the less critical. You need some experience to be able to judge a step. It's best to feel your way slowly and practise on so-called drop batteries in the bike park, for example.
However, if you have decided to ride over the ledge, then you should not hesitate and perform the move quickly rather than too slowly. Of course, the saddle should be completely lowered for this manoeuvre.
Actually, you tend to drop higher obstacles with the E-MTB that cannot be ridden without a rollover. But of course there is nothing to stop you from riding smaller steps with the drop riding technique. However, you do need a bit of courage to lift the front wheel on the step. In principle, the technique works in the same way as riding steps with the push technique at the top, only more dynamically.
Tip: Too much rebound is counterproductive with this E-MTB riding technique, as the landing becomes uncontrolled. That's why: The momentum goes backwards and upwards when jumping off. During the flight phase, the body's centre of gravity must be centred over the bike.
