Gorewear is a brand from the large universe from which Gore-Tex products originate: W.L. Gore & Associates. Under the brand name Gorewear, the US company sells sportswear for cyclists - and also runners. But whether performanceJerseysneon coloured Cycling jacketsfluffy Winter Bibs or warm Gloves - What Gorewear has brought to the shops so far has been very functional and performant, rather tight and known only to a limited extent for its casual style.
That is about to change. The first products from the Fast Lane collection are a fleece jacket and a shirt from Gorewear, which can be worn on the bike but also in everyday life. More products will follow by the end of the year. We present the first two new items of clothing.
The soft fleece shirt with press studs has a relaxed cut. Whether you're working at home or cosying up in the evening in the city, this soft and comfortable fleece shirt will keep you warm outdoors and comfortable indoors too.
The press studs make it easy to put on and take off. The slightly looser cut does not restrict the freedom of movement of the arms and shoulders. Small items can be stored in the chest pocket with zip.
The first thing I notice is that the Gorewear hybrid fleece shirt is less oversized than the jacket, and actually quite tight: while the jacket in M offers me enough room, I can barely get the shirt closed. What a shame! So it's better to buy one size bigger. The item, which is apparently cut for racing bodies, is otherwise pretty good. The fleece is not too warm, so you can also wear it indoors. The material is very pleasant on the skin; soft, very fluffy and quiet. It also feels very soft on the outside, but the structure of the fabric makes it more robust.
It is closed - if physiologically possible - with crisp press studs. The chest pocket has a thick and smooth-running zip. There is enough space for a large smartphone - but the soft and flexible fleece fabric stretches unpleasantly. A credit card and three coins are better kept inside. To summarise, a clear recommendation for slim men who want a fluffy shirt for cold days. Together with a (Gore) hardshell jacket, it's also a good combination for cycling to work.
Note: The product is currently not available (as of 11.12.24).
The Gorewear fleece jacket benefits from in-house technology and is equipped with Gore-Tex Windstopper. It keeps you really warm on cool mornings, after training or simply on the bike.
The elbows, collar and chest pocket with zip are also made of robust Cordura blend fabric for added durability. The cut is loose, so you can always wear a light jumper or long sleeve underneath.
We have already had the opportunity to test the Gorewear Windstopper fleece jacket - and were amazed! Although it weighs almost a kilo, it is not a simple fleece jacket, but a fully-fledged jacket. Not a breath of air can get through the windstopper layer, but it never feels as sweaty as a rain jacket. The generously thick Berber fleece keeps the warmth inside the jacket very well. And the "fur" can even cope with drizzle without getting soaked.
The two pockets on the left and right for mobile phones, money and other small items are practical: they can be accessed from the side as hand warmer pockets and from the top via a second zipped opening. Inside the jacket there is another Napoleon pocket with a zip. The plush collar closes well and also keeps you nice and warm in headwinds. The reinforced elbows are a good idea, as fluffy fleece can quickly cause unattractively flat and later scuffed areas.
For us, the jacket is money well spent. You can wear it on the bike or not, in the cool morning or in the evening after a tour or training session - and safely down to 0 degrees; or even in cooler temperatures. We will try it out...
