3-in-1 solutions are awesome! Whether it's shower gel, tools or kitchen appliances - you buy one product and get two more for free. The new Enduro 3.0 from Leatt. Depending on the area of use, the conventional half-shell helmet can be converted into a jet or full-face helmet. Just to clarify: In jet helmets, the sides of the helmet are pulled down so far that they protect both the ears and the temples. The conversion
requires a bit of skill and is not something that can be done quickly while riding, but all the components then fit perfectly.
In jet mode, the Leatt bike helmet weighs 589 grams. In full-face mode, the display stops at just 724 grams. The generous visor can be adjusted in height in three stages. Also good: Leatt relies on a magnetic system from Fidlock for the fastening of the Enduro 3.0. To effectively protect the head from concussion on impact, utilises Leatt's own 360° turbine technology. This is designed to reduce the rotational acceleration on the brain on impact. In practice, the Leatt Enduro 3.0 is particularly pleasing with its firm fit. The deep neck section provides a high level of safety. Thanks to 13 generous ventilation holes, you can keep a cool head even on hot days.
With the Leatt Enduro 3.0, Leatt offers a multifunctional helmet that makes no compromises in terms of appearance or function in all configurations. Hardly any other manufacturer has managed this before.
If you live large, you should take a look at the new Stamp 1 in large more closely. The feet of our test editor with size 48 shoes had to contend with noticeably less flex on the expansive footprint and tired more slowly than on smaller pedals. Ten interchangeable pins per side reliably bite into the sole. This has improved significantly compared to the first generation. Unfortunately, the concave pedal bodies of the Crankbrothers Stamp 1 made of composite material are susceptible to cracks on contact with stones. On the other hand, the price is fair and the hardware can be completely dismantled for servicing. Also available in a smaller size and in five colours.
The Era Carbon crank is Race Face's answer for tough trail and all-mountain use. To underpin the durability of this lightweight MTB crank, Race Face even offers a ten-year guarantee. To keep the Era looking fresh even after prolonged use, it has stainless steel inserts that have proven to be very resistant to scuff marks. A heavy stone contact nevertheless caused a visual blemish. However, the small dent is not a problem for the function.
The simple black Fox hoodie is one of my absolute favourite items in my wardrobe and is in constant use from autumn to spring - says BIKE editor Stefan Frey. In combination with a gilet, you are optimally equipped up to around ten degrees. The tops of the sleeves and the shoulders block the cold wind, while all other areas are made of fluffy, soft but air-permeable Polartec waffle fleece. On the one hand, this generates sufficient warmth, but nevertheless remains sweat-free for a long time. The lower back of the Fox Hoodie is also splash-proof, so that not every puddle you pass through will result in water ingress. The back pocket runs across from one side to the other, making it a great place to stow a waistcoat on long climbs.
Once you reach the summit, you can take it off again, pull the snug-fitting hood over your head and enjoy the view without the biting summit wind icing your ears. Although the zip on the side prevents pressure points on the neck or chin, it is very tight and constricts slightly when closed, especially when the hood is not being worn. Open, however, it is draughty around the neck.
The Fox hoodie is currently available at a reduced price. So grab it while there's still no frost outside - although the Defend Thermo Hoodie is perfect as an insulating layer under a jacket.
