The Kinetixx brand as a manufacturer of high-quality sports and cycling gloves is probably only known to a few people. This is somewhat surprising, even for us, as the company has been around since 1928! Gloves have therefore been developed in Metzingen for almost 100 years - even if the model tested here is no longer manufactured in Germany.
We also tested a Kinetixx glove for the first time. We noticed that Model Liroy because of its unusual design. The upper side of the glove is made from a stretchy circular knit fabric. We were naturally curious to see how the Liroy would feel on the trail.
The Liroy is a sophisticated long-fingered glove for MTB riders who value comfort, flexibility and control on the handlebars. Soft, seamless synthetic leather is used on the inside of the hand, which has a cushioning attachment on the outer ball to absorb light shocks. Rubberised fingers with a good grip and a thumb and index finger with touch function are part of the standard equipment. Although the Kinetixx does not have a Velcro fastener, it fits comfortably and snugly around the wrist thanks to its stretchy cuff.
However, the highlight is definitely the seamless knitted upper material, which prevents pressure points caused by seams and fits snugly and softly around the hand. The fit in the right size is perfect. Nice detail: the additionally reinforced and rubberised crook of the thumb, which increases grip. Only when gripping the handlebars does the material crease slightly on the palm. The glove could be a little better pre-shaped here.
The Liroy is not really a recommendation for hot summer days, as our hands remained pleasantly warm during the test even at an autumnal ten degrees outside temperature. On the other hand, they are very comfortable to wear. One small drawback: when in contact with thorns or the like, the upper hand pulls threads more easily than the material on many classic glove models.
The Liroy doesn't have a real wiping thumb, but wiping glasses or blowing your nose still works thanks to the soft knitted material.
