With its balanced geometry, the Giant Anthem X2 masters the fine line between race and touring bike very well. The proven Maestro rear triangle of the aluminium full-suspension bike provides propulsion in every position, there is no annoying bobbing or pedal kickback. The 15 millimetre thru-axle and the butted head tube provide additional steering precision on the front wheel. All in all, the 11.7-kilo bike makes a harmonious overall impression that predestines the Anthem X for ambitious marathon and touring use. Only the 110-millimetre stem is a little too long. Compared to last year's test (BIKE 4/10->), the details are also right in 2011: the rear post mount, a five-year warranty and a quick-release saddle clamp have earned the Anthem X2 a well-deserved BIKE rating of "very good".
