WTB presents the new Peacekeeper down-country tyre. The 2.4 inch wide tyre promises fast riding with secure grip in demanding terrain. It offers high puncture resistance, but also weighs more. The robust version is said to weigh around 1000 grams.

WTB is expanding its range of tyres with a new model for versatile applications. The Peacekeeper is positioned as an all-rounder between the lightweight Macro cross-country tyre and the the coarse-tread Trail Boss. With its design, the new tyre is aimed at sporty trail bikers who value both efficiency and control in demanding terrain. The WTB Peacekeeper should be equally suitable for technical climbs, loose bends and long tours.

Wide contact area for control

With an exclusive width of 2.4 inches, the WTB Peacekeeper offers a generous contact area. The tread pattern combines fast-rolling centre lugs with higher enduro-style outer lugs. The latter are designed to provide secure grip on slopes and in corners. The manufacturer has placed additional lugs between the centre and outer area to repel mud and provide grip when transitioning between different surfaces. Thanks to this construction, the Peacekeeper promises balanced, predictable riding behaviour on changing surfaces.

Choice of two rubber compounds

WTB offers the Peacekeeper in two versions of its own Tritec rubber compound. The "Fast Rolling" version prioritises speed and efficiency with harder centre lugs and supportive shoulder lugs. The "High Grip" version prioritises softer side lugs for maximum cornering grip. Both versions utilise Tritec technology, which combines three rubber compounds of different hardnesses in different tread areas. A rigid base is intended to provide stability, while the tread is optimised for rolling resistance and the outer lugs for grip.

Robust carcass for tough use

For use in rough terrain, WTB equips the Peacekeeper with the SG2 carcass. This has a nylon insert that stretches from tyre bead to tyre bead and is designed to protect the entire tyre from punctures. The manufacturer recommends this version for bikers who put a lot of strain on their tyres in unpredictable terrain. Although the additional protection increases the weight slightly, it also significantly increases puncture resistance. However, the WTB is quite heavy for a fast tyre. The version with SG2 puncture protection should weigh around 1000 grams.

Availability and prices

WTB offers the Peacekeeper exclusively in the 29 x 2.4 inch size. Both rubber compounds - Fast Rolling and High Grip - are available with the SG2 carcass. The recommended retail price is 76.95 US dollars and 69.95 euros respectively. In the USA, the new tyre is already available in stores and directly from WTB. In Europe, it will go on sale in the coming weeks. WTB has opted for recycled materials for the packaging and has completely dispensed with plastic.
