Maxxis brings tyre update. The entire gravel range is getting a new carcass fabric and a new rubber compound. There is also new branding and sustainable packaging.

Topics in this article

Hyper, hyper ... er HYPR-X

The new rubber compound from Maxxis is called HYPR-X and has been specially developed for gravel bikes. Those in the know may already have an idea of what this means. The HYPR compound, which is used in road bike tyres, is combined with MaxxSpeed from the MTB sector. This should result in 25 % less rolling resistance, but at the same time 19 % more cornering traction compared to the DualCompound compound previously used.

More puncture protection

The carcass has also been revised. The 120 TPI carcass now used should be more resistant and significantly improve puncture protection in the tread area. Rolling resistance is also lower thanks to the new material. Weight and riding comfort are not negatively affected.

The sidewall is still equipped with the proven EXO sidewall reinforcement and the tyres are TubelessReady.

The new look at Maxxis includes a discreet grey hot patch. Overall, the tyres look modern and tidy. The new packaging of the revised gravel tyres is made from sustainable cardboard.
