The latest product from the Italian saddle manufacturer is called Prologo Proxim Nembo and is designed for all types of gravity biking. It was developed in close collaboration with the Enduro and Downhill World Cup teams supported by Prologo. Former world champion and team boss Gee Atherton (Continental Atherton MTB Race Team) also had a hand in this. He has already tested the new saddle on his latest extreme adventures in the Dolomites.
With the Proxim line and the new Nembo in particular, Prologo wants to provide downhill-orientated bikers with a saddle that gives them maximum support and bike control on extreme trails. The compact dimensions of 245 x 135 make the Nembo the narrowest model in the current Proxim collection.
The flat, ergonomic shape is designed to provide a good contact surface and guarantee maximum support and good stability when pedalling. The nose of the saddle is wider to improve control of the bike, especially on technical sections. The Prologo Proxim should also facilitate contact with the bike when descending in a standing position. The rear is also rounded to prevent the saddle from catching.
To reduce pressure points to a minimum, the saddle has a wide centre channel. A perforated base under the centre section of the cover is designed to combine the advantages of an open saddle, which can further relieve pressure, with the advantages of a closed saddle. Dirt and stones whirled up by the rear wheel are thus kept away from the saddle.
The upholstery consists of foams of different densities. This is intended to ensure maximum support in the rear area where the ischial bones rest. At the same time, it is intended to increase comfort in the other areas of the saddle where the soft tissue rests. The base of the Prologo Proxim Nembo is made from a robust carbon shell. This should guarantee good strength and durability. On the other hand, the chromoly steel frame is designed to create an excellent compromise between flexibility and robustness.
For riders who need maximum control both when pedalling and downhill, there is also another version of the Proxim Nembo. This features the so-called "Slide Control" technology.
The "Proxim Nembo Slide Control" model comes with a special 3D silicone print on the saddle cover, which is designed to increase grip and help the rider find a more stable position in the saddle, even in wet and muddy conditions.
The Proxim Nembo Slide Control is equipped with a TiroX rail made of light alloy steel, which is said to have the same robust and durable properties as the T2.0 version, but weighs slightly less.
In addition to the narrow 135 mm versions of the Nembo and Nembo Slide Control models, two wider versions with a 145 mm base and 5 mm more upper padding are also available.
These wider and more heavily padded versions are primarily intended to appeal to riders looking for more comfort and are especially recommended for e-MTBs. The motor support means less force is applied to the pedals, which requires better weight distribution on the saddle.
All new Proxim models are already available online. The following specifications of the new Prologo saddle are available.
