The (small) solution - GoPro HERO11 Black Mini

GoPro has achieved the same thing as Tempo, Kärcher or Labello - the label has long stood for a product category. In this case, for helmet cameras. We have been using the GoPro 11 Black Mini for a few months now. It is 50 euros cheaper than the regular GoPro 11, but how do the two cameras differ apart from their size and weight? Unlike the regular GoPro 11, the Mini does not have a display, so menu navigation is by button. The Mini also does not have a photo function or a replaceable battery. However, it has two mounting systems and can therefore be attached more flexibly. In terms of image quality and shooting modes (including image stabilisation, HyperSmooth etc.), it is identical to the larger model.

The Mini can be aligned using the GoPro Quick App. Here you can also choose between several settings. However, we lost the connection to our smartphone at irregular intervals. Annoying! It's difficult to say whether this was an isolated incident or not. The two-button menu navigation works intuitively and the most important things can be set here. The 8:7 sensor can record in portrait or landscape format at up to 5.3K without any loss of quality. Good to know: The higher the resolution, the shorter the battery life. We say: 2.7K is more than enough for filming anyway. Advantage: You won't fill up your memory card. However, if you want to compensate for the lack of a photo function, you can select a higher resolution and generate a photo using a screenshot, for example. This is perfectly usable. In short: If you don't attach much importance to photos and like to place the camera on the helmet under the visor, you can confidently reach for the small, 20 gram lighter Hero 11 Mini. 132 grams. Price: 350 euros >> available here.

Debut pedals - Renthal Revo F pedals

According to the handlebar and stem specialists from England, they have invested a lot of brainpower in their first pedal. The flat pedal has ten pins on each side, which can be adjusted to 2.5 or 5.5 millimetres. In terms of footprint, Renthal is not following the trend of XXL platforms; the dimensions of the Revo F are rather moderate. On the trail, however, little or nothing is noticeable. We compared the pedals with the large and proven Hoaxn Hoita from Ambit and felt no loss of comfort with the Renthal. This may also be due to the successful, inwardly curved aluminium platform, which skilfully supports the foot. Maintenance of the Revo F is simple and uncomplicated. However, the high-quality interior is also obligatory at this price. Also available in the classic Renthal gold colour. Weight: 488 grams (the pair). Price: 179.90 euros >> available here.

Conclusion: Stylish, high-quality and grippy - Renthal's flat pedal première is a success. The heavy weight doesn't bother us, but the price does.

Strengths

  • Grip
  • Processing

Weaknesses

  • No lightweight
  • Price

Lubricant - Tunap Sports bearing grease (100 Ml)

The bearing grease from Tunap Sports is my number one. I can't say whether the grease is better than others. The packaging is the main argument. Other fats come in tins, but here you can portion the fat perfectly using the dispenser function. Small detail, big effect. I like it. Price: €14.95 (100 ml) >> available here.

Conclusion: Fat is greasy, but the dispensing function of the packaging makes all the difference.

Strengths

  • Dispenser function
  • Good fat quality

Weaknesses

  • Nothing

Handlebar - BBB Dualforce Inbus 6er /8er

Most pedals can be fitted with a 6- or 8-position Allen key. The Dualforce from BBB has both. The tool also sits comfortably in the hand and has a long lever. Admittedly: We in the FREERIDE test lab change more pedals than the hobby freerider. But for me it's still a tool I wouldn't want to do without. Price: 21,95 Euro >> available here.

Conclusion: Handy, functional, simple. Ideal for mounting pedals.

Strengths

  • Grip feel
  • Functional

Weaknesses

  • Only for pedal multitaskers
