Particularly light and packed with exciting details, Wolf Tooth is presenting three new clipless pedals. With the CTRL, Wolf Tooth appeals to trail bikers, with the ALT to cross country riders and with the minimalist DEL to gravel bikers. All models have a pedal body made from 6061-T6 aluminium and stainless steel axles. Wolf Tooth thus achieves weights from just 216 grams per pair.

Three models for different requirements

The three new pedal models share a common basis of technologies and materials, but are optimised for different areas of use. The CTRL model is aimed at trail riders who need a larger footprint for more control in technical terrain. The ALT pedal is designed for cross-country use and focusses on low weight with a large footprint. The range is completed by the DEL pedal, which was specially developed for gravel bikes and offers a good compromise between weight and footprint. All three models are compatible with the widely used SPD system and can be used with standard SPD cleats, making it easier to get started and integrate into existing setups.

Adjustable Q-factor as a unique selling point

A special feature of the new Wolf Tooth pedals is the adjustable Q-factor (pedalling width), which can be fixed in three different positions (51, 55 and 59 mm). This customisation option allows riders to find the optimum foot position for their individual riding style and anatomy. In contrast to other solutions on the market, no additional parts or adapters are required for this adjustment, which significantly simplifies handling. The adjustment can be carried out in a few simple steps and therefore offers a flexible solution for different preferences and requirements. This function sets Wolf Tooth pedals apart from many competitor products and addresses an often neglected aspect of bike ergonomics.

Robust construction for a long service life

When designing the pedals, Wolf Tooth placed particular emphasis on durability and ease of maintenance. The pedal body is made of high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium, which is CNC-milled to ensure precise shapes and optimum material distribution. The axles are made of 17-4 PH stainless steel, a material known for its high strength and corrosion resistance. The clamping mechanism and all hardware are also made of stainless steel, which increases resistance to weathering and extends service life. Wolf Tooth also emphasises the "Right to Repair" concept: the pedals are designed so that they can be easily maintained and repaired if necessary, making them a long-term investment.

Large footprint for optimum power transmission

Another feature of the Wolf Tooth pedals is the generously dimensioned footprint. This ensures secure contact between the shoe and pedal and prevents tipping, which can occur with a small contact surface. The larger contact surface distributes the pressure better, which reduces pressure points and should increase comfort on longer rides. Especially in comparison to pure XC pedals, the Wolf Tooth models offer a significantly larger contact surface. According to the manufacturer, the ALT model has 50 per cent more contact surface than comparable XC pedals such as the Shimano XTR pedal, while at the same time having a lower overall height, i.e. a smaller distance to the axle. The low height of a pedal has a positive effect on pedalling ergonomics.

Positioning in the competitive environment

Wolf Tooth deliberately positions its new pedals in the premium segment and makes direct comparisons with established competitors. The ALT model for cross-country is set in relation to the Shimano XTR pedal and, in addition to the larger footprint, should also impress with its lower weight and lower overall height. Wolf Tooth also emphasises the availability of spare parts, which supports the longevity of the pedals. The CTRL model for trail use is compared with the OneUp pedal and, according to Wolf Tooth, should be superior in terms of weight, footprint and bearing/seal quality.

Pricing and availability

With a standardised price of 259.99 euros (RRP) for all three models, Wolf Tooth is clearly positioning its new pedals in the upper price segment. This pricing reflects the high-quality choice of materials, the precise CNC manufacturing in the USA and the innovative features such as the adjustable Q-factor. The pedals are therefore aimed at discerning riders who are prepared to pay a corresponding price for quality, durability and sophisticated functionality. Thanks to the standardised price for all three models, the decision for the right pedal is determined solely by the intended use and not by the budget.
