Back then... This photo may not be 25 years old, but the Propain Spindrift FR with the Mavic Deemax DH wheels dates back to 2015.

Do you remember... ?! The bright yellow Mavic Deemax DH wheels are 25 years old! To mark the occasion, the French manufacturer is launching a limited-edition retro version of the downhill classics.

A downhill wheelset for eternity. The Mavic Deemax wheels were already part of the manufacturer's range in the 1990s. To mark this anniversary and as a tribute to the numerous victories of riders such as Nico Vouilloz, Sam Hill or Greg Minnaarwho also started with these wheels, there is a limited special edition in an even brighter yellow.

Mavic Deemax DH wheels at a glance

The wheelset stands out particularly visually. The retro yellow colour of the Mavic Deemax DH wheels immediately catches the eye. But the wheelset is not only experiencing a revival because of its appearance - Mavic also wants to offer a lot technically: It is said to be one of the most robust wheelsets ever produced for hardcore gravity use.

Like many other manufacturers, Mavic now also relies on tubeless technology so that tyres can be ridden with less pressure and therefore offer more grip.

Another technical detail of the Mavic Deemax DH wheels is the Instant Drive 360 system of the hubs. The special Mavic freewheel ensures that the power at the pedals is transferred directly to the wheel. The manufacturer says that this patented mechanism has already proven its reliability with over 100,000 wheels produced - under the toughest competition and weather conditions. According to Mavic, the hubs can also be serviced "in seconds, without tools".

Further details on the retro wheelset

The aluminium rims have a rim width of 30 millimetres. The triangular rim profile is designed to better absorb shocks and impacts. The front and rear wheels have 28 steel spokes. The wheels are available with different axle standards: Front Boost (15/20x110), Rear Boost (12x148) or Rear Super Boost (12x157). The freewheel is suitable for Shimano HG9, Sram XD or Micro Spline.

The Mavic Deemax DH is available in 27.5 and 29 inches. The scope of delivery includes tubeless valves and rim strips, as well as spare spokes and other accessories. The wheelset is said to weigh a total of 2070 grams (990 grams front and 1090 grams rear) and costs 337 Euro (front) and 412 euros for the rear wheel. The yellow wheels are now available online.
