Just in time for the tenth anniversary, the carbon experts from Bike Ahead a real firework display of new products. The first new development is a Handlebar-stem unit named The Unit. The fibre structure is designed to provide very good damping in the handlebars and high torsional stiffness in the stem. It is also equipped with a No-slip application clamping equipped. The elegant control centre is available in five lengths from 44 to 88 millimetres. All models measure 800 millimetres in width and, with the exception of the 44 mm version, have no rise. This is the only model that is 20 millimetres wider and 15 millimetres higher. The stem angle decreases - starting at zero degrees - as the stem length increases. This means that the 88 version leans a full twelve degrees downwards and is aimed at sporty riders. Enduro riders are likely to be particularly interested in the shorter versions. Nevertheless, all models fulfil the ASTM4 test standard and are therefore approved for enduro use. The weights of the one-piece carbon cockpit are as follows, depending on the dimensions between 209 and 229 grams. The only drawback: the cockpit costs 499 Euro. An ultra-lightweight holder for GPS devices is integrated for 599.
The second innovation is a 1119 gram wheelset for cross-country riders and marathon racers. With a Jaw width of 26 millimetres the hookless clincher carbon rim is nevertheless suitable for up to 2.4 inch wide tyres released. The Two-Six wheelset comes with 180 EXP hubs, Aerolite spokes and Prolock Squorx nipples from DT Swiss and costs 2499 euros. It is probably one of the lightest MTB wheels in the world that are wider than 25 millimetres.
Finally, Bike Ahead presents the Three-Zero collection. The Carbon wheels with 30 mm rim width are available in various thicknesses and cover the cross-country, all-mountain and enduro application areas. Thanks to the so-called Wing profile of the rims With a circumferential laminate, the tyre sits at right angles to the carbon fibre. This results in better force absorption of the fibres in the event of impacts on the rim sidewall and rim flange. In addition, the new, patented rim design protect the carcass in the event of punctures and keep the tyre better on the rim. As the tyre can be supported more stably on the rim flange, you can also run less air pressure without risking the carcass tipping. The CC version weighs just 1380 grammes. The all-mountain and enduro models are somewhat heavier with 1460 and 1560 grams for 2499 euros each.
