The new SRAM shifters for the 10-speed groupsets X0, X9 and X7 have been completely overhauled. As SRAM emphasises, the mechanics developed in Germany were derived from the top XX groupset and are designed to ensure crisp shifting with virtually zero-loss technology. The X9 in particular has recently lagged behind the competition in terms of shifting precision, BIKE reported.
Although the affordable X7 has to do without the ball-bearing gear levers installed on the X0 and X9, the cable can be changed quickly thanks to the housing opening that can be closed with a rubber cap. To change the cable on the X0 and X9, the housing cover must be completely removed. The adjustable lever and a carbon housing are only available for the X0. What they all have in common is the significantly more compact, streamlined housing shape and, of course, the interface to Sram's Match Maker clamp. The weights of the new Sram shifters, which are available immediately and in various colours, have not yet been announced; the prices are 63 euros (X7), 111 euros (X9) and 236 euros (X0) per pair.
Another new addition to the X7 groupset is the Type 2 rear derailleur, which is also available immediately. The vibration-damping technology already reliably prevents chain slap in XX1, XX, X0 and X9 rear derailleurs in the event of rough impacts. Now price-conscious customers can also enjoy low-noise drivetrains. The 293 gram rear derailleur costs 80 euros and is available in three cage lengths up to a maximum sprocket size of 36 teeth.
