SR Suntour: Auron with Durolux cartridge
The Auron suspension fork from SR Suntour was not the first choice in the all-mountain segment for a long time. Now it is taking over the cartridge from the current Durolux. The breakthrough for the Auron?

For a long time, the SR Suntour Auron not in the same breath as a Fox 34one Rock Shox Pike or a BOS Deville. With a sometimes sluggish response behaviour and a lack of feedback, the Auron was more of a fork for thrifty riders. Those who could afford it preferred to rely on the top dogs from Rock Shox or Fox. This is now set to change. Although little has changed on the outside of the Auron, suspension forks are like passion fruit: It's the inner values that count.

And that's exactly where SR Suntour comes in. Don't worry, the Auron "Megavalanche" is not as shrivelled as a good passion fruit, but a lot has happened on the inside. "R2C2 PCS" is the magic word. Behind the cryptic abbreviation is the cartridge unit that is also used for the Durolux at the beginning of the year.

Scott rider Remy Absalon won the Megavalanche with a prototype of the new Auron. Hence the name.

A new cartridge to become a bestseller?

This is how our colleagues from the FREERIDE after an initial test in Spain: "The new, powerful Durolux is a real alternative to the well-known top dogs." A BIKE test confirmed FREERIDE's judgement. The Durolux only just missed out on the test rating of "super", which was otherwise only achieved by the Rock Shox Lyrik and Fox 36, which cost more than 400 euros, although it was the cheapest suspension fork in the test. So there's no question that the SR Suntour Durolux was the clear price/performance winner. The Auron "Megavalanche" is now also aiming for this award. At 679 euros, it remains a rather affordable fork in the segment. The performance promised by the new cartridge and, not least, Remy Absalon's eponymous victory with the Megavalanche will certainly challenge the long-standing top forks from Fox and Co.
