Detail improvement: New crown for the Fox 36
Whether for all-mountain adventures in the backcountry or tough stages of the Enduro World Series, the Fox 36 has been the company's all-round fork for downhill-orientated mountain bikes for years. A new crown is set to make it even better.

The Fox 36 suspension fork with the 36 millimetre stanchions and 150 to 160 millimetres suspension travel is known for its wide range of applications. Until it was replaced by the monstrous Fox 38 in 2020, the 36 was the first choice for enduro and freeride riders. Now it is labelled as an all-mountain fork.

After the last major Update of the Fox 36Fox engineers have obviously focussed on the details this time. The two-year-old fork crown has been reworked again, and the optional Kabolt X thru-axle is now also available. The aim: to reduce weight while increasing stiffness and durability.

Has this solved the cracking problem?

The fork crown and its connection to the steerer tube have been redesigned for 2022. The crown and steerer tube now overlap more and the contact area has been increased compared to the previous model. Perhaps this has solved the cracking noise that the Fox 36 sometimes caused in our tests - even though it always performed well.

The new crown also saves around 20 grammes weight. If you want, you can equip the new Fox 36 with Kabolt X thru axle order. This is slightly lighter than the standard axle and should provide even greater torsional rigidity. We will find out in our tests whether the detail improvements are noticeable on the trail.
