The Canyon Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD is fast even without support. But the motor makes it even more fun. A cleanly finished and very light pedelec.

Is that still wet or already solid? The carbon frame of the Canyon test bike looks so fascinatingly organic and in one piece that you almost doubt it's about to change. The fine part is also finished to a very high standard. The complete integration of cables and wires as well as the mini front light in the handlebars will delight minimalists, as will the small rotary switch for selecting the support on the left handlebar grip. Five small LEDs also document the charge status there. It is the only display on this no-frills e-bike.

The joy of riding with the Canyon Roadlite:ON

The bottom bracket houses the Fazua Ride60, which does an excellent job with the bike, which weighs a good 14 kilos. Above all, its natural riding feel comes into its own, and if you enjoy your riding dynamics, this is the saddle for you. With its aerodynamic shape, the matching seat post makes it clear once again what this is all about: forward momentum. It goes without saying that with the Canyon Roadlite:ON and the lightweight Fazua motor, this doesn't stop at 25 kilometres per hour. It also goes without saying that it makes sporty riding a pleasure even without the motor.

You sit on the Canyon Roadlite:ON in a sporty, stretched-out position with a firm grip on the wide handlebars, looking forward to the next bend - and accelerating out of it. The electronic Sram derailleur works precisely and extremely quickly. The Roadlite is just as good for city rides as it is for speedy cross-country journeys. Sporty riders will often be riding above the 25 kilometre limit - but a range of between 60 and 80 kilometres is possible on moderate terrain anyway. For everyday use, there is separate road equipment in the form of mudguards.

The windfall effect

However, if you want to take more than a toothbrush with you, you'll have to reach for a rucksack: there are no eyelets on the carbon frame for the Canyon Roadlite:ON's pannier rack. But as a commuter, you have many options for using this fine fitness bike in everyday life with a wide variety of backpacks. An alternative, although not necessarily for every occasion, are bikepacking bags - but protect the valuable frame with film first! Speaking of everyday use: even climbing stairs is no problem with this lightweight racer, as many city bikes without a motor weigh considerably more. The 430 watt-hour battery can be removed for charging and taken into the home anyway. Unless you carry the e-bike upstairs with you for safety reasons.

Conclusion on the e-bike

Commuters with little luggage as well as technology enthusiasts who love high-speed evening rides are well advised to choose a Canyon bike with racing bike genes. Prerequisite: You like to sit very sportily on the bike and accept that you sometimes have to wait a little longer for service or repairs on a mail-order bike.
